Another Black Eye for Detroit
The City of Detroit (and surrounding areas) has been very excited about the future. This summer Detroit will be hosting the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, and later the Super Bowl.
The city has spent a great deal of money to clean up the city, repair badly damaged roads and bridges, and tear down or repair decrepit buildings. However, the blight remains and not only with the numerous decaying buildings still standing around the city like memorials to a happier past, but also in the City Council, the Mayor's office and with the people of the Detroit Metro Area.
I could go on for hours about the absurdity of the local politics between the City Council and our Pimp Daddy Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Instead this is about the people of the Detroit Metro area.
Last night the Indiana Pacers came to town for the first time since the infamous "Basket Brawl" game. How do we welcome them back? With a Bomb threat of course! Why not throw in some fights in the stands for extra measure.
Most of us are looking at the news this morning and just waiting for the barrage of name calling to start. Once again Detroit has proudly stood up and made all of the negative comments about Detroit COME TRUE!
So here it comes. All we can do now is sit back and watch the avalanche of negativity hit us again. When the All-Star game comes to town we will see all of the footage of the badly beaten buildings, the images of the homeless and the talk about the high crime rate.
Throw in the large amounts of snow and cold weather when the Super Bowl comes to town and the negative comments will hit an all time high.
Detroit, start getting some thick skin, because it is coming and the only way to stop it is to start acting like real adults in the real world instead of complete ASSHOLES.
