MITCH ALBOM stumbles
One of the more famous Detroiters has a bit of a black eye this morning as Mitch Albom had to publicly apologize for publishing an inaccurate story in the Detroit Free Press. Mr. Albom is taking quite a beating from some of the local radio personalities (Mitch Albom also has a radio show every afternoon on 760 WJR). One of those radio personalities is Terry Foster, also a fellow sports columnist.
Mitch Albom was very outspoken about former New York Times writer Jayson Blair for his plagiarism and unethical behavior.

11:53 AMAt least the article in question was published in the editorial section and not as straight news. I think that Mitch's explanation of a Friday deadline for a Sunday column kinda stinks. He pretty much threw his editors to the dogs in his apology...but then again, I'm not his editor (thankfully).
Not the worst journalistic sin ever, but I think Mitch eggs on his detractors with his holier-than-thou attitude. I generally agree with his opinions, but the associated ego makes me want to punch him in the face. My advice to Mitch: better ethics, better writing, then shut up and wait for the royalty checks from Live Albom XVXXII .
