MITCH ALBOM stumbles
One of the more famous Detroiters has a bit of a black eye this morning as Mitch Albom had to publicly apologize for publishing an inaccurate story in the Detroit Free Press. Mr. Albom is taking quite a beating from some of the local radio personalities (Mitch Albom also has a radio show every afternoon on 760 WJR). One of those radio personalities is Terry Foster, also a fellow sports columnist.
Mitch Albom was very outspoken about former New York Times writer Jayson Blair for his plagiarism and unethical behavior.

At least the article in question was published in the editorial section and not as straight news. I think that Mitch's explanation of a Friday deadline for a Sunday column kinda stinks. He pretty much threw his editors to the dogs in his apology...but then again, I'm not his editor (thankfully).
Not the worst journalistic sin ever, but I think Mitch eggs on his detractors with his holier-than-thou attitude. I generally agree with his opinions, but the associated ego makes me want to punch him in the face. My advice to Mitch: better ethics, better writing, then shut up and wait for the royalty checks from Live Albom XVXXII .
